The film has completed principal photography, and the team is now focused on post-production work. Rajinikanth recently confirmed at Chennai airport that shooting has wrapped up, and the makers are working toward finalizing the release date. The production, mounted on a budget of approximately ₹450 crore, features an ensemble cast and high production values that match the scale of its ambitions.
While the official release date is yet to be formally announced by the production house, Jailer 2 is expected to hit theaters in mid-2026, setting the stage for one of the biggest box office events in Indian cinema this year.
Why the Hype Is Justified
The expectations aren’t just hype, and they’re backed by solid fundamentals. With Jailer, both Nelson and Rajini have given a solid comeback as the film collected Rs 624 crore worldwide.
In Tamil Nadu the film has collected around 197Cr gross and In Telugu states it has gathered 86Cr gross. While in Kerala, the number is 58Cr, Karnataka 71Cr, ROI 16Cr. The total all India gross is 428Cr and overseas gross is 196Cr, which makes the total closing gross to 624Cr gross.
Also, the good news is that the makers of this much-awaited sequel are set to announce the release date on April 14, the Tamil New Year.
